Updated March 16, 2020
AART recognizes that COVID-19 is a pandemic and we are obligated to limit exposure to our patients and staff.
Below is information on what is being done within the clinic to limit exposure. This is our plan as of March 16, 2020 and is subject to change at the direction of the Nova Scotia Health Authority, Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), other Provincial and Federal directives.
Screening, Social Distancing & Sanitizing
In order to limit the number of people physically in the clinic, all clinic appointments will proceed via teleconference. Your physician will call you at your scheduled appointment time.
All patients in active treatment who come to the clinic are being screened upon arrival. If they have symptoms they will be referred to 811 to book an appointment for testing.
In order to limit the number of people in the clinic, patients cannot bring a support person to the clinic unless they are undergoing a retrieval, transfer, or pregnancy scan.
Hand sanitizer is available in the waiting room and every room where a patient could be. Hand washing signs are up in every bathroom. Our staff is following proper hand washing procedures and using hand sanitizer regularly.
Our waiting room, exam rooms, labs and procedure areas are sanitized daily.
Any staff member who has a fever and/or new onset of cough must take a sick day and call 811 to see if they should be tested.
All patients currently in fresh IVF treatment who have started medication will continue treatment. Fresh IVF cycle patients may elect to freeze all of their embryos and have a FET at a later date.
All patients currently undergoing a FET, COH/IUI, TDI will be given the option to continue treatment or postpone.
If a patient undergoing treatment or their partner tests positive for COVID-19 their treatment will be cancelled and a partial refund will be provided for services not yet performed. Treatment includes but is not limited to a fresh IVF cycle, FET, COH/IUI, TDI, and SFA.
Treatment must be cancelled because Health Canada recommends self-isolation if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or if local public health has identified you as a close contact of someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
AART is a non-profit and all of our services are at cost. Therefore, if a patient’s treatment is cancelled because they test positive for COVID-19, unfortunately, we are unable to refund services that were already completed.
Unfortunately, there will be no new fresh IVF, FET, COH/IUI, TDI treatment cycles started at this time. We will start treatment again as soon as possible so new treatment cycles are only temporarily postponed.Leave a reply →
